Has there come to you information about the honored guests of Ibrahim? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
