He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
