The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Whenever a new advice comes to them from their Lord, they do not listen to it except while playing. 2 Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" 3 The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Nay, say they, (these are but) muddled dreams; nay, he hath but invented it; nay, he is but a poet. Let him bring us a portent even as those of old (who were Allah's messengers) were sent (with portents). 5 Of the villages We destroyed, there was not one that believed. What, will they not believe? 6 And We sent not before thee but men unto whom We revealed; so ask the people of the admonition if ye know not. 7 and neither did We endow them with bodies that could dispense with food nor were they immortal. 8 then We made true the promise We gave them and We delivered them, and whomsoever We would; and We destroyed the prodigal. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
