1/2 Hizb 33

۞ We had earlier given Abraham true direction, for We knew him well. 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They asked: "Hast thou come unto us [with this claim] in all earnest - or art thou one of those jesters?" 55 He said, 'Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them, and I am one of those that bear witness thereunto. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 [And when he came.] they asked: "Hast thou done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 Then crestfallen (they confessed): "Truly, as you know, they cannot speak." 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
