Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
89 verses, revealed in Mecca after Consultation (Al-Shooraa) before Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HaMeem. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 verily We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 We destroyed the strongest among them in power. The stories of the ancient people have already been mentioned. 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 and who sent down out of heaven water in measure; and We revived thereby a land that was dead; even so you shall be brought forth; 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 that you may be seated on their backs and then remember your Lord's blessing when you are seated on them, and say, 'Glory be to Him, who has subjected this to us, and we ourselves were not equal to it; 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
