Nay, by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
