The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
