Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And chosen goblets. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
