The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
