The people of Lot accused the messengers of lies. 160 When their brother Lot said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We delivered him and his household all. 170 save an old woman among those that tarried; 171 then We destroyed the others, 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
