The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
