Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets set, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
