Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
89 verses, revealed in Mecca after Consultation (Al-Shooraa) before Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 behold, We have made it an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand; 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Should We have withdrawn the Reminder from you as you are a people who exceed the bounds? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them). 8 And indeed if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will surely say: "The All-Mighty, the All-Knower created them." 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 And (it is He), who sends down water from the sky in its measure thereby We revive the land that was dead, as such you shall be brought forth. 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return." 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
