The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You will become three categories: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
