Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
