The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
