Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 except iblis (father of the jinn) who refused to be one of those who prostrated themselves. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 until the day of a known time." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
