The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
