I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
