The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
