Said the chieftains of Firaun’s people, “He is really an expert magician.” 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 The magicians asked Moses, "Will you throw your staff first or shall we?" 115 He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. 120 They said: we believe in the Lord of the worlds. 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126
