The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ They ask you about the spoils of war. Say, "They belong to God and His Messenger. So fear God, and set things right among yourselves, and obey God and His Messenger, if you are true believers: 1 The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely - 2 Who establish regular prayers and spend (freely) out of the gifts We have given them for sustenance: 3 It is they who are the believers in truth. For them are grades of dignity with their Lord, and Forgiveness and a generous provision (Paradise). 4 Just as thy Lord ordered thee out of thy house in truth, even though a party among the Believers disliked it, 5 disputing with thee concerning the truth after it had become clear, as though they were being driven into death with their eyes wide open. 6 And when Allah promised you one of the two bands (of the enemy) that it should be yours, and ye longed that other than the armed one might be yours. And Allah willed that He should cause the Truth to triumph by His words, and cut the root of the disbelievers; 7 That He may manifest the truth of what was true and show the falsehood of what was false, though the guilty disliked. 8 When you prayed to your Lord for help, He answered, "I am sending to your aid a thousand angels in succession." 9 He gave you the good news only to reassure your hearts, for victory comes from God alone, and certainly God is all-mighty and all-wise. 10
