And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 and you cannot elude Him on earth, and you will have none to protect you from God [in the life to come,] and none to bring you succour. 31 And of His Signs are the ships that sail in the sea like mountains. 32 If He so wills, He can cause the winds to become still so that they will remain motionless on its surface. Surely there are many Signs in this for those who are wont to be steadfast and give thanks. 33 or He could have destroyed them as punishment for the human being's deeds. However, God pardons many sins. 34 Those who dispute Our verses may know that they have no asylum. 35 So whatsoever things are vouchsafed unto you are but a passing enjoyment for the life of the world, and that which is with Allah, better and more lasting, is for those who believe and in their Lord put their trust. 36 who eschew grave sins and shameful deeds, and whenever they are angry, forgive; 37 who respond to their Lord and attend to their prayers; who conduct their affairs by mutual consultation and spend out of what We have provided for them; 38 and when harmed they become victorious. 39 The recompense for evil will be equivalent to the deed. He who pardons (the evil done to him) and reforms himself, will receive his reward from God. God certainly does not love the unjust. 40 If one avenges himself after he has been wronged, there is no way of blaming him. 41 The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous. 42 And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah. 43
