The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount; 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the swollen sea 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
