The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Was there none but he to whom the Reminder could be vouchsafed excluding all others? Nay; he is an insolent liar.” 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called their companion who took a sword and hamstrung her. 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 We sent a sandstorm against them which destroyed them all, except the family of Lot, whom We saved at the break of dawn, 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 Taste then My torment and My warnings. 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40
