The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 purify your garments; 4 and flee from the statues! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 it will be a hard day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
