The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
