He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attend to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and fodder 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
