This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment; 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 Only the erring people follow the poets. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
