And Yunus was most surely of the apostles. 139 When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, 140 Then he joined the lots, and was of the condemned. 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Behold, it is one of their fabrications that they say: 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or have you clear evidence? 156 Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful. 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 Except the one who will go into the blazing fire. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 we are they that give glory. 166 They used to say: 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 Most surely they shall be the assisted ones 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 So turn (away) from them for a while, 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)! 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 And all praise is due to God alone, the Sustainer of all the worlds! 182
