The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
