The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
