The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
