Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Do you not see that even if We give them respite for years 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
