Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HaMeem. 1 By this luminous Book. 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will answer: "The Mighty and All-knowing created them," 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
