The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
