The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
