The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
