۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
