By no means! By the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 it is a warning to man, 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who will be in Paradise 40 about the sinners. 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 running away from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
