And when you killed a man, then you disagreed with respect to that, and Allah was to bring forth that which you were going to hide. 72 We said: 'Strike him with a piece of it' Like this, Allah restores the dead to life and shows you His signs in order that you will understand. 73 Then after it, your hearts hardened – so they are like rocks, or even harder; for there are some rocks that rivers gush forth from them; and some that water flows from them when they split asunder; and there are rocks that fall down for the fear of Allah; and Allah is not unaware of your deeds. 74 ۞ Do you covet [the hope, O believers], that they would believe for you while a party of them used to hear the words of Allah and then distort the Torah after they had understood it while they were knowing? 75 And when they fall in with those who believe, they say: We believe. But when they go apart one with another they say: Prate ye to them of that which Allah hath disclosed to you that they may contend with you before your Lord concerning it? Have ye then no sense? 76 Know they not that God knows what they keep secret and what they publish? 77 And among them are unlettered ones who do not know the Scripture except in wishful thinking, but they are only assuming. 78 Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands and then say, "This is from Allah," to purchase with it a little price! Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for that they earn thereby. 79 And they say: The Fire (of punishment) will not touch us save for a certain number of days. Say: Have ye received a covenant from Allah - truly Allah will not break His covenant - or tell ye concerning Allah that which ye know not? 80 Truly, those who do evil and are encompassed by their misdeeds, shall be the inmates of the Fire. Therein they shall abide forever, 81 whereas those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds - they are destined for paradise, therein to abide. 82
