I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 it is a warning to man, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
