And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
