Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 "And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations." 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 "The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons." 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
