And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Yet these say: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 Save those on whom Allah will have mercy. Verily He! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
