Al-Qamar 2 of 3
[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent. 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 So taste My chastisement and My warning. 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
