Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
