The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be, 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 Indeed he succeeds who purifies his ownself (i.e. obeys and performs all that Allah ordered, by following the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism and by doing righteous good deeds). 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
Almighty Allah's Truth.
