The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a great day 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
