And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
