The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
